about

Some albums more or less grow by themselves. This one started as a field-recording of a small transformer station with a lot of rich overtones to it's hum.

It was a nice sunny Sunday, and the placement of the station between a football field and the railroad tracks added life and texture. Trains rushed by, metal tracks squealing, which turned into a lovely deep singing tone when pitched down in the sampler later. A football smashed into a wire fence next to the recorder at one point, which is also retained in the final piece.

Then there was a new synth I was eager to explore, so I started adding layers, actually playing along instead of using my sequencers. A nocturnal theme started to emerge, older recordings began to fit into the puzzle - individual parts flowing together, themes and elements recurring - and slowly everything grew into this final drifting dreamy 41 minute form.

I really like sequences. The feeling of being moved from one place to another, ending up somewhere different from when starting. Like being a child again, half asleep at the back seat in the car on the way home from a family gathering in another city.

So enjoy the landscapes rushing by in the dark. Or fall asleep halfway through and wake up in a different place.
